This is what I have been up to lately. =)

Hello, one and all! I thought it was about time I wrote another post to let you all know what I have been up to since my last post which was oh so long ago.

First, though, I would like to thank all my followers for hanging in there with me and all the new followers that have decided to read what I write here. I appreciate you all more than you know.

Okay, where to start with my news. I have no particular order in mind so I will write as things occur to me since this is not meant to be a timeline but more of a list of things I am or have been doing.

I am still doing soundboard duties at my church but now I have been learning how to run the presentation software that puts images and words up on the screen at the front of the church via the laptop and projector.

keyboard-453795_1920

So, this means that pretty much every weekend I switch between either of these jobs. Last weekend I was on sound and it looks like this weekend I will be too unless something happens and they need me on the laptop.

I had a woman from the congregation come up to the Soundbooth last Sunday and express her pleasure in the music and quality of sound she was hearing.

Some exciting news on the soundboard front! Our church will be getting a brand new mixer (soundboard) with 24 (edited)32 channels. Our current board has 14 so this one will be much bigger and newer.

I am excited because it means I get to learn how to control this new one and we won’t have to push the system as hard since there will be more than enough space and power which will make my job easier in the end.

Along with the new board, we are getting professional powered speakers and a new flatscreen monitor for the booth. When all this new equipment arrives I am going to feel like a kid at Christmas. LOL 😀

This is the mixer we are getting it is a Yamaha MGP32X 32 channel board.

Now, on to other news, I finally got our taxes completed and filed with the government. It is April and tax time in Canada. We have until April 31st technically but since it falls on a Sunday this year the government will still consider taxes filed on time if they receive it by May 1st.

calculator-385506_1920

I don’t like to leave it that late but it is a pain getting all the paperwork and receipts etc. together and filling out the forms and I dread it every year. I am so happy it is over for another year.  🙂

I have also taken on the job of getting all the music sheets together and organized for our church. Oh, what did I get myself into there!?

emoji-1584282_1920

I had to put them in order and fill binder after binder worth so that the songs would be easy to locate for each musician or singer that went looking for a particular song.

mouse-583579_1920

That has been a huge undertaking that I have invested hours upon hours doing and I am thankful to report that the job is just about completed. I have to retype the indexes for each binder and take the whole huge box of binders back to the church.

Not to worry, I am taking time out from all these jobs to not only work on my YouTube channel and relax a bit too.

film-589491_1920

My channel now sits at 830 subscribers at last count and I am gaining roughly three to four more each day. It seems ever since I hit that magic number, of 500 subscribers, my channel growth has been snowballing.

If you would like to come over and check it out for yourself I will put a link here (it will open in a new window to leave your reading of this post uninterrupted.)

Of course, I am relaxing sometimes as well as I mentioned. I have been doing a lot of reading and doing some adult coloring. This is keeping me relatively stress-free for the most part while I tackle all these large jobs with paperwork.

I have also been continuing to practice playing my mandolin. I am happy to say that my left-hand fingers are all nicely calloused which makes it easier to play for longer.

fender-fm-100-mandolin-pack_8

I am currently working on different strumming and picking patterns to use with the mandolin. These instruments are not usually played like a guitar as they are meant for a different type of music; namely bluegrass and fiddle tunes and the like.

I have learned a total of 10 or 11 chords so far and am getting pretty proficient at switching between them. This has proven to be a difficult task, to teach me how to play using books and the internet.

A metronome has been a recent purchase to aid in my strumming and picking so that I can keep time properly, so that is helping I think. It was on sale for $10 at our favorite music store marked down from $28.95! That kind of deal I could not pass up.

office-620817_1920

As for the book, I am writing for my grandson, Ethan, I am still plodding along working at getting that done as time permits. I have the basic storyline down and have some names picked out for the dragon although I have not decided on THE name yet, not for certain.

Getting the wording just right is proving to be tougher to do than I thought. The words need to be simple and I need to capture the story in maybe 15 pages maximum. A majority of those pages are going to be big beautiful pictures with great detail.

I do have the materials collected to put this book together but figuring out just what it is going to say and look like is frustratingly difficult. But, I will persist and work that out and get it done. It is for Ethan after all! 😉

Oh, my husband and I have just started seeing a new dentist right here in town so we no longer have to travel half an hour each way to and from North Bay for appointments.

dentist-1530917_1920

Yay! Our new dentist is kind and easy to talk to about our teeth and takes our point of view into account when it comes to planning treatment.

We have also had several good references from the people we know here in town who go to him. We both had a cleaning done today as well as a new patient exam by Dr. Wong.

Well, I think that does it, for now, you are pretty much up to speed with what I have been doing with my time while away from my blog. Again, thank you for being there and for stopping by to read my posts. I do appreciate all of you, so much.

Have a wonderful day/night wherever you are – until next time. 🙂

Sneeze, cough, sleep…being sick sucks!

cold-1972619_1920

Hello again everyone, I am sorry for the lack of posts for the past while. I am finally feeling up to sitting here and composing a post to let you all know what’s been going on.

This cold or flu or whatever it is hit me on January 16th. When it did it hit me like a Mac truck. In fact, I hopped on my Facebook account and asked if anyone had gotten the license plate. LOL

It was weird the way it took turns with my body parts. It started with a sore throat then went to headaches. From there it hit me with such a lethargy I spent a lot of time sleeping and reading.

Fever was the next stage and at this point I was miserable. Then came the sneezing and runny nose which reactivated a sore throat and headaches.

I don’t mean to go on and on whining is really not me. I just wanted to let you all know if there was any way to keep content going here on my blog and on my YouTube channel I would have made it happen.

flu-1679104

I think now that I must have picked up this bug at church although it could have been anywhere really.

Somehow I fought nausea and coughing etc. to keep up my commitments to my church. We have only a couple of people, myself included, that can run the sound board.

I didn’t want to leave them stranded with no one and figured I would not infect anyone if I didn’t hug anyone or get too close. The entire service I stayed up in the sound booth and tended the board.

Everyone who saw me, including the Pastor, commented that I should be home in bed but if I was determined to come in that they would pray for me. We even joked that we should pray the rest of them not get this. So we did just that!

influenza-156098

Slowly I am feeling better each day and this blog post is step one to getting back to my routine. I still take naps when I need to and am restricting activities to what I need to do.

So what else have you been up to Susan?

Okay, I did work on my story outline for my grandson’s book a little bit.

I have a cast of characters listed which includes; King James, Queen Crystal and Prince Ethan, the townsfolk in the kingdom and our friendly dragon of course. I still haven’t thought of a name for him.

Basically, I am going for a story in the style of Robert Munsch. I want to introduce the Kingdom of? (no idea what to call that either yet) the castle and those who live in it. I will then expand out to touch on a few of the townsfolk.

Word will come from an attack on the kingdom from the next kingdom over. Prince Ethan will be playing in the backyard of the castle and befriend a dragon perched on the castle wall.

Through this friendship, Prince Ethan will save the kingdom when the attack happens by calling on his new friend the dragon to chase away the attackers.

Once the kingdom is safe again there will be a huge banquet held in honor of Prince Ethan the hero. His dragon will make an appearance at the banquet to share in the glory.

dragon-1490404_1920

Again…thinking of drawing a dragon like this guy. ^ (I did not draw this it is just meant as an example).

I know this storyline has been written many, many times before but by personalizing it to Ethan and his parents and coming up with my own dragon I will make it my own.

What do you think so far? I would love to know your thoughts on the direction I am going with this.

I am considering making the book using plastic page protectors which I can slide pages into back to back and then seal the tops with tape.

I think this would give the pages some durability from the many, many times it is read to him (hopefully). I will probably then stitch the pages together using the holes where they are meant to be put in a binder.

If I just slap them in a binder some would get lost once he learns how to spring the clips open. Trust me with my grandson this will not take long to figure out….he is pretty determined when he wants something. 😀

On a final note, I just learned, today, how to run the laptop using Easy Worship 2009 to put the pictures and words to songs, scripture etc up on the screen at the front of the church.

Our usual person who runs the laptop during service is away right now so the one other person who can do soundboard will sub for me there and I will be on the laptop this Sunday.

Life is interesting if nothing else and it continues to be a busy one for me so I am glad that I am finally on the mend.

Thanks for stopping by to read my blog post once again my friends. I really appreciate you sticking with me even though the postings are erratic. That means the world to me that you do that and I don’t take your attention for granted, ever.  🙂

Decisions About A Book For My Grandson, Ethan.

img_3102

I got some excellent advice on my questions on my last post. I want to thank both of those people for their wise counsel. I have done a lot of thinking since that post and those answers and have decided to write a storybook for my grandson. Period. Full stop.

It will be a one of a kind book created and produced exclusively for Ethan. I have decided against writing any other children’s books for the public. My heart is not in it when it comes to getting something like that published.

notebook-360063_1920

However, my heart is entirely in it when it comes to making one for Ethan. As a result of this decision, I have decided to work on a story outline personalized to Ethan. He will be the hero of the story.

His Dad, my son James, is a fan of all things dragon so a dragon must be involved in this story. I will have to learn how to draw a friendly looking dragon as well.

I think I want to make him a friendly dragon that guides and protects Prince Ethan just as James does for the real Ethan.

dragon-1490404_1920

Something like this might work (image from Pixabay)

Yes, I believe that will work and would be an excellent jumping off point.

I will be writing the story first so that I have an idea of what to draw at crucial points in the story. I will also begin taking photographs of Ethan I took this past Christmas and teaching myself to draw his likeness in various poses.

school-1974369_1920

So far I have not been able to sit down and draw or do any sort of artwork since the New Year. I am pleased to report that my other two goals are right on track. I talked to my best friend out west for two hours the other night. 🙂

I have been able to almost finish my first book of my reading goal of 40 books this year. This should all be in a separate post, really, but I wanted to explain that the drawing part of this project is a bit delayed.

Not to worry I will get there!

pen-1911740_1280

In my next post, I should have a rough outline of the story written to share with you. Thanks for stopping by my blog to read my thoughts once again. I hope you have a wonderful day/night wherever you are. 🙂

Hey, I Want To Share An Idea With You!

For a while now I have been doing some serious thinking. Mostly it has been on the subject of New Years Goals and Intentions; read my last post to see what goals I settled on there.

The other thing I have been thinking about lately has been whether or not to attempt writing a book. Yes, I do want to write a novel one day or a memoir.

Those two choices would take a substantial amount of time and are more complex than I am thinking about committing to right now.

I need something to, in a sense, dip my toes in as an introduction to the world of writing. In the interim, I would like to try my hand at writing a children’s book.

childrens-books-1246675_1920

I am wondering how hard a market that would be to break into but it has all the hallmarks of a wonderful project.

Writing a children’s book would combine two of my passions in one project; writing and drawing. I would have to come up with an outline of something that would be of interest to children.

I would want to make it different enough to stand out against all the children’s books out there.

The beauty of a large picture book like this is that it would be fairly short but that being said I would want it to spark a child’s imagination even though it would be short.

kids-1136296_1920

The thing that really started to turn up the desire to do this was when my grandson came to visit us on Christmas Day.

This idea occurred to me a long while ago but Christmas Day intensified it and really brought home the immediacy of such a project.

This has to happen soon since my grandson will remain a little guy only for so long. Already at two and a half he is growing so fast and saying a few words now.

The window of opportunity to write for him is only so long. Even if my first book is written and illustrated just for him. I could write another to get published for the general public afterward.

How special would that be to have Grandma write a storybook just for you?

I wished with all my heart that I had a big beautiful book to share with him. I want him to enjoy reading as much as I do and the idea of writing a book for that purpose just inspires me.

I think of some of the great authors of children’s books like Dr. Seuss and Robert Munsch. That kind of great authorship is what I am shooting for!

library-1003919_1920

Perhaps tomorrow will find me sitting down to sketch out a few ideas as to subject matter and a vague outline to flesh out.

One of my New Year Goals is to spend one day a week doing artwork or creative projects for either my YouTube channel or here on my blog or both!

Could this be the subject of my first weekly creative artwork I set for one of my goals this year?

What do you think about me doing this? Would you be interested in seeing some sketches and ideas as I work this out on paper and not just spinning around and around in my mind?

Your input and opinions would be most welcome as I try to figure out just what this book for Ethan would look like.

In order to fit this into the short window of opportunity I have to get it into my grandson’s hands I would have to actually produce a single true original book that I could then ship to him via the mail.

After this is accomplished I could then take the time and follow the proper steps to find a way to get a children’s book published for the public.

It might even help sell my idea to a publisher if I could point to the one I made for Ethan and how he responds to it.

children-1822474_1920

The more I am sharing this idea with you all the more real it is becoming. It is no longer just a private thought in my mind. This desire, goal, intention is now out there and I find my pulse quickening a bit.

Yes, I am a little afraid as well as excited at the possibilities.

Will my drawings be good enough? What about the story or theme of the book, will it be something Ethan would want to have read to him? Or will he want to get down and play with his toys on the floor?

Would you let me know in the comments what your thoughts are? I know the decision is ultimately up to me but I guess what I am asking is would you be interested in seeing some ideas and sample drawings?

Do any of you out there have young children or grandchildren? If so what kinds of books are they interested in? Do they like stories or simple learning books on colors or the alphabet?

Thank you in advance for your responses. I appreciate everyone who stops by to read my blog and those that take the time to leave a comment to let me know they were here and what they think.

Have a wonderful day/night wherever you are! 🙂

Can I Just Curl Up Somewhere And Die Now Please?

bed-1836316_1920

Hi, everyone! Today’s post is all about sleep or rather the lack of it. So, this happened last night and into the wee hours of this morning. I thought I would share it with you in a post.

After dinner last night I had the worst stomach ache. It was a doozy; I have not felt pain like that in a long, long time. There was no reason for it either; I did not overeat and what I ate my husband ate and he did not feel ill.

pain-1015573_1920

For some reason, my stomach was bloated and rock hard. If you have ever experienced that you know how much that hurts and there is nothing to be done, that I have found in any case, but wait it out.

I did not even have one of these.

hot-water-bottle-1800752_1920

I used to have a really good quality one but somehow it got left behind during a move I made years ago. Sadly, I have never thought to replace it; until now.

I attempted to lay down for the night at around 10:30 p.m. After tossing and turning for a little over an hour; I could not find a comfortable position to sleep in plus the pain would not let me sleep anyway.

Around 11:45 p.m. I got out of bed and crept to the living room so I would not wake my husband. I turn the tri-light lamp on in the corner propped myself up with pillows and covered my lower half with an olive green microfiber blanket to stay warm.

time-1725214_1280

There I sat with my 747-page book reading trying to take my mind off the pain. I found that if I did not move much the pain would subside a little.

I sat like this for hours. I made it through close to 100 pages. Thankfully it is a riveting page-turner of a book.

Around 3:30 a.m. I decided to take a hot shower to see if the heat would help my stomach muscles relax a little. It is at times like this I miss my bathtub.

Did you know you could mimic the effects of a hot water bottle by laying down surrounded by hot water? That was my go-to remedy when I needed a hot water bottle and didn’t have one.

Ever since moving out here to the country all we have access to is a shower. The hot water did help a little but I was getting really tired and did not want to stand in the shower for too long.

There is a seat molded into our shower unit but no matter how I adjusted the shower head I could not get it to reach the right place.

After toweling off and getting dressed in my PJs again I returned to my previous position in the living room.

Just as I got back into a semi-comfortable spot I remembered that peppermint tea is good for digestive issues.

So, off to the kitchen I went in search of my variety tea stash. I have a tub of a variety of single wrapped and boxes of herbal teas.

I remembered the bright green foil packets that contained my peppermint tea bags.

teabag-549799_1920

It was such a eureka moment when I was able to pull that plastic tub out of one of my upper cupboards and spotted the green foil.

Yes! I was in luck I still had almost a dozen peppermint tea bags left. With a quick boil of my cordless kettle, I soon had a peppermint tea bag steeping in a cup; which I carried back into the living room.

Setting the tea mug down on the side table by the couch I once more nestled myself into the pillows and blanket setup I had figured out previously.

I picked up my book again and when the tea had steeped until it turned the water a beautiful deep green I began sipping intermittently.

peppermint-tea-1109

My poor stomach; I did not want to add more to it but regarded the tea as a medicine that must be drunk if I were to even hope to feel better.

Eventually, the mug was emptied and I had read another 5o or so pages when I noticed that my stomach was not hurting as badly.

alarm-clock-1193291_1920

Did I dare to attempt laying down and chance the pain returning? With my eyes beginning to burn and a headache threatening to start I decided to chance it.

I returned my mug to the kitchen not even bothering to remove the spent tea bag before placing it on the counter.

I glanced at the time displayed on my microwave oven before leaving the kitchen and did a double take. Could it seriously be 5:30 a.m. already?

Indeed it was, no wonder my eyes were burning. Shutting the light off in the living room on my way through to the bedroom I found my way to my side of the bed in the pitch black.

This was a familiar route since I made on average one to two trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night every night to pee.

My husband never woke up as I slid under the covers and settled into a comfortable pose on my left side. I had been told by a nurse once that laying on your left side is better for you.

I have no idea why that is so but with this memory I just landed in bed on my left side. Closing my eyes and focusing on my breathing ended up sweeping me off to dreamland. Finally!

My husband woke me with a fresh pot of tea, as is his custom, at 8:30 a.m. so we could get on with our day and head over to clean the church.

Ugh, three hours of sleep and now I had to scrub the toilet, clean the vanity, Windex the mirror and empty the trash.

I have not had a nap yet and am still plowing through the day. The time now is 3:31 p.m. and here I sit at my computer writing a blog post. :0

Well, I shall end this post here and go start making dinner. I believe an early dinner and an early bedtime are in order today. Thank you very much for popping by to read my post today.

If you have stuck with me this far into the post; you have my undying gratitude because that means I have not written all this in vain.

How To Schedule Your Time: Making Your Days Count

diary-614149_1920

Hello, everybody, I have been struggling with this concept for a while now as you all know. I have both a YouTube Channel and this blog plus everyday life that I must juggle.

I decided to do some research on how to get myself on track and wanted to share with you what I found out.

Perhaps you could use some of this information in your life too and we could get ourselves better organized together.

Life is busy. Now there is an understatement if I ever heard one! There is so much to do that we must somehow find time to cram into our day if we want to get everything done.

The question is how? I found out the very first step to organizing your time is to make a list of all the things you want or need to accomplish.

We need to define the problem in order to find a solution.

Okay, here is what my list looks like; at least all that I can think of at this moment. I may add more items later if I suddenly remember more.

Make YouTube videos – various topics

Write posts for my blog -various topics

Practice my mandolin

Answer Emails (from YouTube and my blog)

Do dishes

Make the bed

Do laundry

Make meals

Sweep and wash the floors

Play with RCs (sometimes I want to just for fun and not always for videos)

Clean the church

Attend church

Read books

Surf the internet

Sleep

Phew!! I am getting exhausted just looking at that list; no wonder I have trouble getting it all done. Is your list as long as mine? Or longer?

time-1126254_1280

Next step? Prioritize; what must get done (needs) and what you want to do for yourself or others (wants)

the-action-plan-1429834_1920

NEED : Make YouTube videos -various topics

NEED: Write posts for my blog -various topics

NEED: Practice my mandolin

NEED: Answer Emails (from YouTube and my blog)

NEED: Do dishes

NEED: Make the bed

NEED: Do laundry

NEED: Make meals

NEED: Sweep and wash the floors

WANT: Play with RCs (sometimes I want to just for fun and not always for videos)

WANT: Clean the church

WANT: Attend church

WANT: Read books

WANT: Surf the internet

NEED: Sleep

All right, now we are getting somewhere. I have ten items on my NEED list and five items on my WANT list. It’s okay; no need to make sure there are even amounts on both lists.

Different activities take different amounts of time. Besides, I am sure you can expand your wants to fill any time not taken by your needs. LOL 😉

notes-514998_1920

Now we get down to the nitty gritty and figure out how long and how often each thing takes. An average is okay; no need to define your schedule down to the last minute or second.

It is not nice to put that much pressure on yourself!

NEED : Make YouTube videos -various topics  (this one varies as some videos are easier to make than others. I will call this 2 hours and it needs to happen every day). If I get a lot accomplished I will simply add them to scheduled videos and get ahead of the game.

NEED: Write posts for my blog -various topics (strangely enough this is the same as videos and I will schedule 2 hours every day for this one too). If I get a lot accomplished I will simply add them to scheduled posts and get ahead of the game.

NEED: Practice my mandolin (I should be practicing every day or two for 20 minutes to 30 minutes). Let’s call it 30 minutes for sake of fitting it into the schedule more consistantly.

NEED: Answer Emails (from YouTube and my blog) (I could easily spend hours upon hours keeping up with comments on both my channel and my blog but being reasonable I will devote 1 hour to this task every day so it doesn’t get backed up too far).

NEED: Do dishes (I do dishes once a day after dinner. They take 20 minutes to 30 minutes since I handwash – I don’t have a dishwasher).

NEED: Make the bed. (This one is easy – under five minutes and every morning when I get out of bed.)

NEED: Do laundry. (Usually I do laundry on weekends when hydro is cheaper but the odd weeknight I will have a load that I do at night after 7pm – again to save on hydro. Wash and dry  1 -1 1/2 hours).

NEED: Make meals ( Most meals I make take no longer than 30 minutes to cook and I do that  three times a day if I am lucky; quite often it is twice a day.)

NEED: Sweep and wash the floors (This chore takes me 1 hour and I do it once a week).

WANT: Play with RCs (sometimes I want to just for fun and not always for videos) (As I was saying when it comes to wants I could expand to whatever time is available to me). I would be happy with twice a week.

WANT: Clean the church (This happens once a week – usually on a Friday and it takes my husband and I 30 minutes to tackle all the chores together).

WANT: Attend church (Also once a week, from 11 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. every Sunday) This can expand to 10 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. when hubby is on stage and I run the soundboards to allow for setup time and brief rehearsal)

WANT: Read books (LOL, any chance I get and for however long I can. I have been known to read for hours at a time.)

WANT: Surf the internet  (same as above only surfing the net instead of reading books.)

NEED: Sleep (This has to happen every night. I try to get at least 6 hours of sleep).

office-620817_1920

Finally, we are at the stage of putting all of this planning down onto a weekly schedule. A quick chart to post on the fridge would be handy to keep things in mind as you go about your day.

If you work outside the home of course work will also be on your schedule and must be accounted for if you like to do things like eat and have a place to live.

A daytimer or appointment book is useful to keep tabs on what you need to do and when but also consider your smartphone. They are handy and can be set to vibrate or sound an alert when it is time to switch activities.

I believe I will be posting on the fridge and setting my smartphone up as reminders. That way wherever I am I will have my schedule with me.

So, in conclusion, I have tallied up the figures on the various things I need to get done and I can get it all done in 14 hours per day and that includes my 6 hours of sleep a night.

Out of a 24 hour day that leaves me with 10 hours to sprinkle in some “me time” and the things I want to do; that make me happy and fulfilled as a person.

I have just set up all of the “events” on my phone. I now have the times blocked out and can see that there are gaps of an hour here and there throughout in which I can choose to do something off my wants list.

I am not putting down anything in particular for these times but instead will allow myself to gravitate toward whatever I feel like at the time.

This way my wants won’t become another “chore”.

I will write another post to update you on how things are working out for me in about a months time.

That gives me four weeks to get into the routine of things and accurately judge how well it is working; productivity wise and satisfaction wise.

There is one thing I would like to know; if you would be so kind as to leave me a comment, do you have a schedule to get everything done or do you fly by the seat of your pants as I have been doing all this time?

Thank you for once again visiting my blog to read my thoughts today. I do appreciate all the support, my friends. 🙂

Shelf: A handy way to organize things.

Today’s blog is inspired by the daily prompt from March 17th this year: Shelf

When I think of a shelf I automatically think of a BOOK shelf due to my fondness for books. Of course, there are other types of shelves in different places to hold different things. It is a way to organize things that you collect and use so that they are handy at a moments notice. You can grab a book off the shelf to read when you want to be entertained or look up some information. You can pick up an item off of a grocery store shelf when you are hungry or when you simply need to restock your cupboards at home. Each shelf performs a function when it comes to arranging things that we collect. These are but two examples, there are also shelves that hold and display collections of other things like fancy plates, salt and pepper shakers or thimbles. I suppose the thimble shelves would be quite tiny in scale by comparison to the other shelves I am discussing today. The list does not stop there either…not by any means.

I will tell you mainly about the shelves that I have and those I have used. As I was mentioning, the first place my mind goes when I hear the word shelf is my numerous bookshelves. I have quite a few books and they reside in the different bookcases I have in my bedroom. I tend to sort by author although not alphabetically by title. There are several shelves dedicated to my favorite author, Stephen King (I wrote a blog post about him not long ago). I have a new author I am following by the name of Lee Child. I now own two of his novels but I can see this collection growing when the chance presents itself. I enjoy his stories and the main character named Jack Reacher whose exploits you can follow through the series of books Lee Child writes. I have read Killing Floor and Make Me so far but I can see the need to either clear a shelf for his works in the future or buy another bookcase. Then there are the shelves that contain my medical books and those are mainly a reference resource. The titles cover a broad range of ailments, there is one on different kinds of drugs and one on Home Medical Encyclopedia, that one is in two volumes, with which I can look up symptoms and get an idea of where to go for further information. I have one on the female human body which is dedicated to things unique to us women including but not limited to things like reproductive organs, mammary glands etc. The bookmark in that one currently sits marking the chapter on Menopause. Ugh….I am learning about that topic first hand and this book is quite handy for looking things up to see if they are normal or not. LOL

The other shelves I am all too familiar with and pretty much everyone is are the ones at the grocery and department stores. My husband and I go to WalMart on average twice to three times a week. Did you know those shelves are known in the business as gondolas? The end of the gondolas are great for grabbing shoppers attention for specials and promotions. Things are categorized according to groups, so things like cereal, bread, pop etc. Another trick retailers play with the shelves to capture the most money from us, their customers, are the different zones. The various brands pay for space on those shelves according to price points. You will generally find the higher prices on goods at eye level and those usually are name brand products. You can find store brand items of the same thing either on the shelf below eye level or way up high. The brand name companies pay for their rank on the shelves to garner the most sales possible. If you want to save money you need to focus on those other zones. It is worth it…you can thank me later. 😉 LOL

I will wrap up this post for now since I have touched on the important points I wanted to tell you. I am sure there is much more to say on the subject but for brevities sake, I will leave it here. Thanks again for your visit and for reading what I have to say today. Please leave a comment for me, if you would, to let me know you were here. If you are not already following my blog please consider doing that too. You will be notified via email every time I publish a new post. Ever since I discovered the beauty that is scheduling (thank you Don Royster for putting me on to the idea) I aim to publish a new post every third day. So a post…two days in between then another post. I have been able to maintain this schedule for a while now and believe I will not have any trouble keeping up this pace. If you haven’t seen Don Royster’s blog yet, he writes a blog titled Uncle Bardie’s Stories & Such four times a week, please check it out. I have found many of his posts  thought provoking, funny, always entertaining and well worth the read.
